Company Announcement: SES to show high-tech pumps, cutting tools and chains at AIMEX 2013

Southern Engineering Services (SES) will be displaying a wide range of innovative pumping, cutting and conveyor chain technology for mining applications on Stand 1316 at AIMEX – Asia-Pacific’s International Mining Exhibition, to be held at the Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park from August 20-23, 2013. A highlight of SES’s stand will be its Hauhinco EHP 5K 400 high-pressure emulsion pump, which offers ultra-high capacity flow rates at high pressures. “With flow rates from 530 lpm at 415 bar to 725 lpm at 300 bar and numerous successful installations worldwide, SES is ready to take the next step with ultra-high-capacity high-pressure emulsion pumping stations,” said Walter Pizzato from SES’s Mining & Industrial Division. On display will be a number of what the company says are leading-edge innovations designed to safely isolate and disperse fluid under high pressure.
These include:
• PAID (pressure and isolation dissipation) valves, which in one turn of a handle both isolates and dissipates energy with minimal effort overcoming procedural failures when breaking high pressure fluid lines for maintenance purposes
• DBDB double block and bleed valves, which remove the need to operate multiple handles when isolating and dissipating upstream or downstream high pressure fluids in the same single handle action
• ID2I internally dissipating interlocked isolation valves, which reduce the risk of high-pressure fluid injection through sequential isolation and preventing the need for dissipation to atmosphere
• Dual shaft motor and quick coupling disengagement systems, said to be fast, simple and safe, reducing downtime normally required by removing couplings with heat or hydraulic equipment
“SES has remained successful for more than 60 years by producing continuous innovation to support our customers in five core areas of safety, reliability, know-how, service, and integrity,” said Bob Sherack, General Manager of SES’s Mining & Industrial Division. Also at AIMEX 2013, SES will be displaying its non-chemical acid mine drainage (AMD) treatment. “We have developed a method of treating AMD water that will slash costs and make it suitable for either water course discharge or uses such as commercial and livestock watering,” said Steve Hepburn from SES’s Mining & Industrial Division. In addition, the company’s cutting heads and tools technology, specifically designed to meet both Australian and global needs, will be on show at AIMEX. This includes cutting drums for longwall shearers; cutting heads for continuous miners; cutting tools to suit all mining and mineral-winning applications; water spray systems for dust suppression and the control of frictional ignitions; and the repair and improvement of all types of cutting equipment.
One of the company’s major display items will be its Thiele Big-T chain, which offers an increased inter-link contact area, low height and flattened profile, and is designed to reduce wear on conveyor chain systems. “We’ll also be highlighting our partnerships and service and support offerings,” said Sherack. “We have long-term relationships with leading brands such as Hauhinco, Thiele, Conflow, and Mansign, and they remain integral to our success. “Equally important is our local service and support network, with facilities located adjacent to the major mining regions at Unanderra in the Illawarra, Kurri Kurri in the Hunter Valley, and Emerald in Central Queensland,” he said.
