Company Announcement: Multi Alloys adds value by sharing industry knowledge with customers
Multi Alloys gives back to industry by hosting regular customer workshops and basic Stainless Steel ‘Family’ was the theme of the one day workshop held recently at the Bryanston Country Club. “As a supplier of metal and special alloys, adding value through experience is what makes Multi Alloys a specialist in the industry,” says Multi Alloys managing member Ken Perel. “We believe that it is very important to share our experiences gained over more than fifteen years with our esteemed customers because this is how we are able to add value. Workshops are an ideal forum for sharing this knowledge with our customers,” explains Perel.
The main objective of the customer workshops, which are held two to three times per annum, is to provide valuable information regarding the use of special alloys. According to Perel, they have noted a steady increase in attendance with an average of between 15 to 20 customers at each workshop. “In fact,” continues Perel, “Customers have shown such keen interest that we have extended our workshop concept to offering in-house training. Customers who are new to the industry or who have little or no knowledge of special alloys, find these training sessions particularly beneficial.”
The May workshop was well attended with customers representing diverse industry such as water treatment, heating, petrochemical and power generation. “The focus was on assisting customers on correct selection of basic stainless steel to best suit to specific applications. In addition to the history and use of Duplex Stainless Steel for demanding applications, the important topic of corrosion was also dealt with. This incorporated a presentation on forms of corrosion, material selection, environmental factors as well as high temperature corrosion phenomena. Other areas covered by Perel included the position of nickel alloys in the maze of materials that may be available and potential risk factors through the inappropriate use of materials.
Upon conclusion of the workshop, delegates offered very positive feedback, commenting that the seminar was “most informative, offered excellent value and was definitely worth while attending”. Delegates who constantly need to address the challenge of thermal corrosion fatigue by matching the best material to the right application commented that “as correct material choice was addressed in-depth, the workshop was of unquestionable value and undeniably added to their tool box.” Many customers also complimented Ken on his presentations “that were easy to understand as they were not too scientific and technical.” “Knowledge is power and we believe it is very important for us to help empowering our customers by sharing this knowledge with them. Through our in-house training and regular workshops, we are able to expand the knowledge base for metals and special alloys in a sustainable way to the benefit of our customers and industry as a whole,” concludes Ken.
