The range of multipurpose ride-on and pedestrian vibratory drum rollers available from Wacker Neuson in South Africa set the bench marks for maximum compaction performance and high quality surface finishes, combined with affordability and low maintenance. “In today’s world of ‘does it make me money?’ or ‘does it save me money?’, it’s refreshing to find a product that does both,” says Marc Carter, Wacker Neuson National Sales Manager. “Uptime and equipment availability are key to keeping up productivity levels, so customers need to get the job done as quickly as possible without compromising on the quality of the job. Our range of drum rollers meets these customer requirements, incorporating engineered reliability, a compact design for compaction in confined spaces, operator comfort and an extensive range of cost and time saving features.”

The outstanding overall roller performance, optimum compacting results and easy manoeuvrability of the diesel- and petrol-powered ride-on and pedestrian drum rollers deliver high quality base and finish layers across a wide range of soil, asphalt and granular sub-base material compaction applications. The ride-on range of Wacker Neuson hydrostatic vibratory rollers feature dual drum drive for maximum traction, and coupled with easy manoeuvrability, deliver great versatility in confined areas. High exciter frequencies allow compaction at faster speeds, while still delivering even coverage and excellent surface finish results. Additional features include articulated steering that ensures extremely accurate control, a pressurised water system for consistent water flow, easy access to critical components allowing faster service, sloped engine covers providing excellent visibility and a fully adjustable suspension seat for maximum operator comfort.

Turning to the Wacker Neuson pedestrian vibratory drum rollers, Carter underlines the increased reliability and decreased maintenance offered by these units, which is a result of the totally hydrostatic drive that eliminates complex mechanical transmission components, and the related component wear and tear. The exclusive compact design allows for tight side clearance on both sides of the roller, while the dual smooth surfaced, bevel-edged drums compact asphalt and granular material equally well. The engines are available with a low oil shutdown feature for maximum engine protection, and large rubber shock mounts absorb vibration and shock to components on the upper mass, allowing for reduced equipment wear and operator fatigue. Cold weather starting, together with general ease of starting, are further enhanced by an innovative pump coupling system, while not adding any unnecessary complexity to the machines.

A variety of suitable accessories are available on both the tandem and pedestrian drum rollers. “We back our entire product range, including our range of rollers, with rock-solid customer support. From parts availability, to exceptional field and workshop repair services, we stand by our customers and their machines,” adds Carter. “When it comes to affordability, reliability, optimum compaction performance and low maintenance, the Wacker Neuson range of vibratory drum rollers delivers on all fronts without compromise,” he concludes.
