Company Announcement: Action continues to build a solid reputation

Since commencing operations in early 2010, Action Drill & Blast is continuing to build a solid reputation for the provision of superior drilling and blasting contract services across a range of industries. In the past two years, Action Drill & Blast has successfully operated on more than 30 contracts and has grown to a team of over 350 personnel with significant experience in the drill and blast arena. The company’s diverse fleet of new drills has enabled them to deliver a range of services to projects across Australia, including Pilbara projects such as Fortescue Metals Main rail line upgrade, where they delivered controlled near rail drill blast services, to production drilling and blasting on Rio Tinto’s, Western Turner Syncline and Middlemount Coal’s mine in the Bowen Basin, Queensland. Action Drill & Blast is a specialist operator in a field that requires a high degree of skill and experience. Their passionate and expert team are dedicated to delivering on client’s targets and thinking outside the box. According to Action Drill & Blast General Manager, Warren Fair, part of the company’s success is attributed to its ability to address a client’s critical issues and offer an end to end service in addition to the drilling and blasting processes. Additional services can include blast design planning, obtaining approvals, explosive supply and management; all performed with solid safety practices at their core.
According to Mr Fair, “Action Drill & Blast’s key capabilities and strengths are: Customer Focused - Flexibility and spending time to understand our clients’ requirements are critical to the success of each project. This often involves being innovative and thinking outside the box. A recent example of this is a drill modification that was undertaken by Action Drill & Blast’s Queensland team in order to meet drill depth requirements for their client. The team modified a Pit Viper 275 to enable the rig to increase its maximum drill depth from 60m to 72m, meaning that the project was not only completed on time but resulted in budget efficiencies as well. Ability to deliver on targets – On time is important but it is also critical to be able to deliver commercial value and strong returns for the client.
Safety – A strong safety culture driven from the top. Line Management receive formal management training to Nationally Accredited Diploma of Managemnet (BSB51107). We know the approval process and are very controlled in the way we blast. Expertise and experience – Many of our team have over 20 years of experience. This is critical for executing the difficult jobs, maintaining standards and navigating the complex regulatory requirements.” Mr Fair continues, “With 350 qualified and experienced personnel on hand, we can deliver to a range of industries a level of service that is fundamentally what you should expect from your contractor. This includes availability 24/7 of staff; one key point of contact and project specific experience. Action Drill & Blast has a growing client base including John Holland, NRW, Rio Tinto Coal, Macmahon, Downer and Brierty, and the team are working on a number of sites across Australia. In October 2012, the company was awarded a $100 million contract with John Holland at the Isaac Plains coal mine in Queensland where Action Drill & Blast will be supplying explosive and blasting services over a three year contract. Building on its success in Australia, Action Drill & Blast is attending this year’s Indaba conference with a view to applying its capabilities in the African market.
