3M South Africa will be participating at the OSH Expo highlighting key issues in the South African climate. It is critical that all workers are protected at all times, by wearing the PPE that fits correctly. Some of the concerns across the industries is that the PPE supplied does not cater for women. 3M has solutions that address these and were designed with Women in mind. With more than 40 years of safety leadership in respiratory and hearing protection solutions introduced since 1972, at this year’s OSH Expo Africa 3M will showcase its Hearing Conservation offering, the Women in Mining range, localisation of disposable respirators in South Africa; along with other Personal Safety Division categories, namely Respiratory Protection, Disposable Coveralls, Welding, Eyewear and Reflective Material for high visibility. The Women in Mining project is to facilitate growth and participation of women in the mining industry of South Africa. It aims to address the professional needs for women working in the mining industry, by meeting their requirements or challenges with sustainable, responsive and innovative solutions.
The OSH Expo Africa 2013 is an informative and exciting showcase of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) products and services that will provide OSH professionals with all the latest industry news, trends and the opportunity to view and source the most innovative products. This year, science-based company 3M will showcase products from its Occupational Health division; more specifically highlighting some of their biggest projects this year, making them the first local manufacturer to conform to latest European Standards. 3M considers taking a more medium to long-term view on the many challenges that the industry faces, from those in top-level management to the employees at grassroots level. With particular focus on improving working conditions and safety, 3M South Africa draws on expertise from 5 Business Groups enabling them to counteract o unique challenges such as mining-depth related to safety, productivity and energy.
3M South Africa is celebrating 60 years in South Africa, and its key focus to staying relevant is to continuously assist in solving challenges with innovative ideas and technology solutions that can help improve safety and work conditions. For this reason 3M has created a Customer Innovation Centre to interact and touch base with their customers, by taking them through a tour on their different technology platforms and solutions. Other products within the hearing protection category include a complete range of ear plugs and passive ear muffs designed to provide protection, comfort and ease of use. All Hearing Protection products are designed to be both practical and comfortable. Visitors can expect to see upcoming new products which will complement their existing portfolio and promote worker safety. The diversified technology company brings this year a wealth of new knowledge and product experience available for multiple industries.
