Bretby Gammatech, one of the world’s leading coal quality monitoring equipment companies, is developing new business opportunities in the Balkans, after exhibiting at the Balkanmine Congress and Commercial Exhibition, held in Macedonia.

The UK-based company exhibited its world-renowned ash monitoring technology, such as the Ash Probe, which generated interest and enquiries from mining companies in Bosnia, Serbia and Bulgaria. Gary Wain, General Manager of Bretby Gammatech, part of the President Engineering Group (PEGL), said: “This was a really successful exhibition for us.  The Baltic states are a large potential market and we met some key contacts and are hoping to generate some exciting new business opportunities as a result, in this region.”

Bretby Gammatech exhibited alongside its exclusive agent for the Balkans - Milan Djordevic of Europrocess.  During the three day congress, the Bretby Gammatech team were kept busy with enquiries for its online Heat Eye and Ash Probe products, as well as for its Laboratory product – the Lab Ash.  The team carried out in-depth demonstrations of the Ash Probe that they had set up using coal from the local Kolubara and Kakanj mines, which showed different Ash ranges of coal from the two mines. Many delegates from the congress also chose to visit the ELEM Bitola Power Station which was located close to the conference centre.  Bretby Gammatech has four Heat Eye systems installed on its input conveyors.

Gary Wain explains: “The visit to the power station gave delegates the chance to see our systems in operation at first hand.  This was a great way for them to gain a better understanding of the technology and its benefits in the Power Station.” Bretby Gammatech has a 20 year history of producing technology that provides an innovative and safe method of measuring the ash content of coal which does not involve a radiation source.
