Company Announcement -The winners of academic awards in the 2015 SA Paint Industry Training Institute examinations have been announced, and framed recognition of their achievements handed over at functions in Johannesburg and Durban recently. SAPITI is the training arm of the SA Paint Manufacturing Association.

The SAPITI Gauteng Award winners for 2015  are:

  • BAMR Award for second highest national marks for Module 01 - Basic Technology: Thabo Ramatsebo of Becker Industrial Coatings;
  • TAG Solvents Award for highest national marks for Module 02 - Paint Application: Alecia Oothuizen of BASF SA (ex Archroma);
  • Technipaint Award for the highest overall practical marks for Module 02 - Paint Application: Alecia Oosthuizen of BASF SA (ex Archroma);
  • BAMR Award for highest assignment marks Module 02  - Paint Application: Alecia Oosthuizen of BASF SA (ex Archroma);
  • Rolfes Colour Pigments Award for highest national marks for Module 04 - Pigments & Dispersion: Shingirai Mazimbe of Astra Paints, Zimbabwe;
  • SAPITI Award for highest marks achieved in Zimbabwe: Shingirai Mazimbe of Astra Paints, Zimbabwe;
  • Ferro Coating Resins Award for highest national marks for Module 05 - Modifiers: Sharlene Sukhlal of BASF Coatings;
  • Lejn Award for highest national marks for Module 06 - Evaluation: Shadrack Madlopha of Dura Paints;
  • Servochem Award for highest national marks for Module 07 - Convertible Media: Ruan van der Westhuizen of Fillrite Paints;
  • BAMR/Elcometer Award for highest national marks for Module 08 - Formulating Principles & Student of the Year: Johann Kunneke of Ferro SA;
  • Akzo Nobel Powder Coatings Award for highest national marks for Module 09 - Powder Coatings Manufacture: Ingrid van Zyl of Akzo Nobel Powder Coatings; and
  • SAPMA/SAPITI Volunteer Awards for Most Diligent Volunteers: Neel Roshania of Marindec & Unirsesins, and Paul Edge of Carst & Walker.

In Kwa-Zulu Natal, the SAPITI award winners were:

BAMR Award for highest national marks for Module 01 - Basic Technology: Kimona Chinsamy of Paintchem;
Engen Award for highest national marks for Module 03 - Solvents and Media: Venashree Reddy of Kansai Plascon;
Kansai Plascon Award for highest national marks for Module 11 - Basic Science: Mwelase Nhlapo of ICI Dulux;  and
Acti-Chem Award for most dedicated student in KZN: Mwelase Nhlapo of ICI Dulux.
