Name: Canadian Malartic mine.

Controlling Company: Osisko Mining (100%).

Location: The Canadian Malartic gold deposit is located in Quebec, Canada, south of the town of Malartic and about 20 km west of the town of Val-d’Or.

Brief History: The original Canadian Malartic deposit was discovered in 1926. Underground development began in 1928, following a 26-hole surface drill programme, and production started in 1935. The mine closed in 1965. Following closure of the mine, the property remained idle until it was bought Lac Minerals in 1979.  From 1980 to 1988, Lac Minerals’ exploration programme led to the definition of five near-surface gold zones. The project was suspended when Barrick Gold Corporation acquired Lac Minerals in the early 1990s. Barrick sold the property to McWatters Mining in 2003. McWatters went bankrupt in 2004, and in late 2004, Osisko purchased a 100% interest in the property through the McWatters liquidating trustee. It took only six years from the initiation of exploration drilling in 2005 to complete the mine development. The first gold pour was in April 2011 and commercial production started in May 2011.

Brief Description: The Canadian Malartic property includes the former Canadian Malartic underground mine, which produced more than one-million ounces of gold from ore containing 3 g/t to 6 g/t of gold from 1935 to 1965. Historical production from the Malartic mining camp, comprising the former Canadian Malartic, Barnat-Sladen and East Malartic mines, totalled more than five million ounces of gold from 1935 to 1983.

Mining Method: Openpit.

Products: Gold.

Major Infrastructure and Equipment: The Trans-Canadian highway 117; the Canadian national railroad line, regional airport facilities, the Hydro-Québec 120 kV electrical power grid and a natural gas pipeline.

During the construction of the project, the following infrastructure and ancillary facilities were erected: a 120 kV electrical power line from Cadillac, the main substation, electrical site distribution, road construction, municipal site work, an administration/warehouse complex, a mine/truck shop building and a control gate, as well as a fuel storage and mine explosives plant. The loading of waste and ore will be carried out with two 28 m3 electric-driven hydraulic shovels and transported by 227-t-class rigid trucks. In addition, a front-end wheel loader will complement the shovels and rehandle ore from the stockpiles. The haulage fleet will increase over time as the haulage distances increase, owing to a deepening of the pit and higher dump levels for waste. Ancillary equipment includes two graders, four track-type dozers, one wheel dozer, two water trucks and other support equipment.

Geology/Mineralisation: The deposit is an Archean porphyry gold system, consisting of a widespread shell of disseminated gold and pyrite mineralisation hosted by diorite porphyry and altered metasediments. Drilling and compilation work has outlined a gold mineralised system measuring 1 900 m x 350 m, with a variable true thickness ranging from 40 m to 270 s to a vertical depth of 320 m from surface. The system is open to the west and to the south at depth.

Reserves: Total proven and probable reserves as at February 19, 2013, were 298.6-million tons, with a grading of 1.03 g/t gold.

Resources: Total measured and indicated resources, as at February 19, 2013, were 347.3-million tons, with a grading of 1.05 g/t gold. Inferred resources were 30.5-million tons with a grading of 0.81 g/t gold.
