JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – An employee at Southern Africa-focused gold miner Caledonia Mining’s Blanket mine, in Zimbabwe, has died in a mining-related accident.

The accident occurred at the Number 6 shaft on July 7.

“I join with my colleagues in expressing our sincere condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of the deceased,” CEO Steve Curtis said on Monday.

The company has notified the Minister of Mines and Mining Development and the Inspector of Mines and will provide all the necessary assistance to the Ministry of Mines Inspectorate Department in its enquiry into this incident.
