Project Description
The objective is to deliver a low-capital and low-cost operation, which will produce a premium PCI coal in a relatively short timeframe to generate positive cash flow to assist in funding the larger two-million-tonne-a-year BBM coking coal project.

The project will entail the construction of a small-scale opencut mine, with a capacity of about 500 000 t/y. Coal will be mined from the area covered by BBM’s coal tenement.

The mine plan is based on an opencut mine for a five-year mine life.

Latest Developments
Cokal has reported that coal production is imminent at its flagship BBM project.

The company has acquired the relevant regulatory approvals, including the mining, environmental and forestry approvals from the various Indonesian government departments. It has also successfully completed negotiations with the landowners and both parties are pleased with the outcome.

Cokal has further negotiated terms for the supply of fuel, land-clearing contractors and a small fleet of mining and barging equipment.
