JSE- and Aim-listed Coal of Africa Limited (CoAL) chairperson David Brown is to take the reins as interim CEO for the next six months, after current head of the company John Wallington steps down on May 31.

CoAL has embarked on a search for a new permanent CEO, as Wallington will not be renewing his contract after three years with the company.

Brown has thanked Wallington, commenting: “. . . he has been instrumental in enabling the company to overcome the varied regulatory challenges since the beginning of his tenure.”

Meanwhile, after four years of serving on the board, current executive director of corporate affairs Professor Alfred Nevhutanda has resigned.
