Project Description
The deepening of the Booysendal North UG2 mine is an expansion of the original Booysendal North mine, which came on stream in 2013 and reached steady-state production in the first half of the 2016 financial year, producing 160 000 oz/y.

The deepening project, initiated in June 2015, extends the down-dip limit of the North UG2 mine to 2.8 km. It is expected to add 30 000 oz/y of saleable platinum, palladium, rhodium and gold, or 4E product, to the North mine through the addition of two operational levels.

A key component of the extension is a 5 000 t surge capacity underground silo that will connect the deeper, new section to the existing mine.
