Boonanarring delivers for Image
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Diversified mineral explorer Image Resources has increased the Joint Ore Reserves Committee- (Jorc-) compliant resource at its Boonanarring heavy mineral deposit by some 80%.
New drilling at the West Australian deposit has identified additional Jorc-compliant indicated resource of some 5.1-million tons, at 7.5% valuable heavy minerals, containing some 380 000 t of minerals.
The drilling also identified an additional inferred resource of 3.4-million tons, at 4.6%, containing 160 000 t of valuable heavy minerals.
The discovery brought the total defined Boonanarring resource to 18.8-million tons, at 5.9%, for 1.1-million tons of heavy minerals.
Image MD Peter Davies said on Friday that the results were a key step towards the development of Boonanarring as a high-grade, low capital cost, rapid-payback project.
“The overall valuable heavy mineral grade, and particularly the zircon grade, are higher than most other existing or planned operations. Coupled with the excellent existing local infrastructure and availability of experienced employees, Boonanarring is shaping up as an ideal start-up operation for a company of Image’s size.”
Davies added that the company had made significant progress in all areas of the environmental studies, process testwork and other key technical studies.
With this phase of exploration drilling now completed, and all other feasibility study elements on schedule for completion by July, Image continued to deliver against its targets, Davies said.
