Swedish metals company Boliden has put up mobile crushing plants at the fire-hit concentrating plant at Kevitsa, in Finland, allowing production to resume at almost 90% of normal capacity.

The company said post fire inspections were still ongoing and that the cause of the fire was yet to be determined.

Damage to the heavy equipment, such as crusher and feeder, was limited, but there was extensive damage to the electrical and ventilation systems, Boliden reported, adding that repairs could take two to three months.

The company said it would take a SEK200-million earnings hit from the fire at the copper/nickel mine.

Discussions with insurance companies have started.
