PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Diversified giant BHP has announced the early redemption of £600-million Sterling hybrid notes, which were issued in October 2015.

The notes were issued by BHP Billiton Finance and due in 2077, however, the miner on Wednesday said that in accordance with its group strategy and strong liquidity position it has given notice to the holders of the notes that it will exercise its contractual option to redeem and cancel the notes.

The notes will be redeemed on October 22 at their outstanding principal amount plus any accrued interest in accordance with their terms and conditions.
