PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Mining major BHP Billiton has confirmed a meeting between its management and US President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence.

“BHP Billiton chairperson Jac Nasser and CEO Andrew Mackenzie had a productive meeting with President-Elect Trump and Vice President-Elect Pence in New York City,” the company said in a statement on Tuesday.

“They discussed a wide range of subject areas, including the global resources sector, and BHP Billiton’s investment in the US. The company looks forward to working with the new administration,” BHP said.

Trump has previously vowed to impose trade tariffs on China, BHP’s biggest customer.
