Name and Location
Barrow Creek 1 phosphate project, Northern Territory, Australia.

Client
Rum Jungle Resources.

Project Description
The Barrow Creek 1 phosphate project has a total measured, indicated and inferred resource of 238-million tonnes, at an average grade of 14.6% and a cutoff of 10% phosphorous pentoxide.

A scoping study completed on the project has identified three viable options to develop the Barrow Creek 1 project as a standalone operation, with a life-of-mine of 25 years.

The options identified are:
• a direct shipping ore (DSO) start-up, ramping up to 1.8-million tonnes a year;
• beneficiation through flotation, ramping up to 1.8-million tonnes a year of 30% to 32% phosphorus pentoxide rock from start-up; and
• production of up to 540 000 t/y of merchant-grade phosphoric acid through either a wet or a thermal process.

Value
Option 1 – $277-million for DSO start-up and a further, but delayed, $175-million for beneficiation.
Option 2 – $432-million.
Option 3 – $830-million.

Duration
Construction start-up for all options is forecast for the third quarter of 2014.

Production for Option 1 is forecast to start in the first quarter of 2016 for DSO and the fourth quarter of 2019 for beneficiated rock.

Forecast production  for Option 2 is expected in the first quarter of 2016 and in the third quarter of 2016 for Option 3.

Latest Developments
The scoping study has recommended the start of a prefeasibility study to further define the optimum development project for Barrow Creek 1 will form the basis of a future bankable feasibility study.
