Avenira reports maiden mineral resource in Senegal
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed junior Avenira, previously known as Minemakers, has reported a maiden indicated mineral resource of 12.6-million tonnes, grading 21% phosphorus pentoxide at its Baobab phosphate project, in Senegal.
The indicated mineral resource estimate was completed for much of the eastern half of the small mine permit at the Gadda Bissik East project area, and represented the first phase of the resource status upgrade planned to advance the project to mining status.
An inferred mineral resource of 80-million tonnes, grading 19% phosphorus pentoxide, was estimated for the remainder of the Gadde Bissik East prospect.
“It is very pleasing to be able to announce the first phase of conversion of our resource base to the indicated mineral resource category,” said Avenira MD and CEO Cliff Lawrenson.
“This step is part of our continuing de-risking of the project as we move into mining. Our ongoing technical and marketing efforts will enable us to provide more detailed mining pans, including mineral reserves and financial modelling in the first half of 2016.”
Avenira in November took the decision to start mining at the Baobab project after receiving final governmental approval.
The decision to start mining would allow Avenira to initiate water drilling and place orders for the wet screening plant, allowing the mine to be in production by the second half of 2016.
