PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Diversified junior Balamara Resources has launched a feasibility study for its flagship Nowa Ruda coking coal project, in Poland.

Balamara was awarded the concession covering the Nowa Ruda project in July last year, and was hoping to accelerate the project development. A maiden Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant resource was expected within the coming weeks.

Balamara said on Thursday that as the permit to mine was considered to be the longest lead time item within the development process, the company had engaged an environmental consultancy to start environmental studies and assessments, which would be completed in the first quarter of next year.

The feasibility study itself would be completed within the next 12 months, which would allow Balamara to seek funding for the Nowa Ruda project, and start mine development, with first coal production targeted for early 2017.

The project covers some 20 km2 of land surface and holds key infrastructure, including roads, rail, power and water.
