Attila converts resource at Gurnee
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Coal junior Attila Resources has converted some 94% of its maiden inferred resource to the measured and indicated status at its Gurnee property, in the US.
The ASX-listed company said on Tuesday that some 71.6-million tons of resource had now been defined as measured, with a further 4.8-million tons classified as indicated.
A further two-million tons of resource was classified as inferred, which brought the project’s total resource estimate to 78.4-million tons.
Attila said in a statement that the resource was solely contained within the confines of the 7 770 acre Gurnee property, with additional coal still present outside the currently leased property.
“Attila is very pleased with the high level of conversion of its maiden inferred resource on the Gurnee property to the measured and indicated categories after only eight months from acquiring its interest in the Kodiak project,’ said Attila executive director Evan Cranston.
“We are extremely happy that almost all of its high-quality hard coking coal resource is now in the measured category, being the highest level of confidence for a Joint Ore Reserves Committee resource.”
Cranston said that the conversion of the resource paved the way for Attila to transition into a hard coking coal producer, with long-life mines.
“We look forward to further upgrading the resource for the Kodiak project with the addition of a maiden resource at our newly acquired Seymour property, within the next six months,” he added.
The Kodiak mine has been on care and maintenance since the end of 2008, with the operation being fully permitted.
