JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Following the company’s yearly general meeting on Friday, triple-listed Atlatsa Resources has appointed chief commercial officer (CCO) Joel Kesler as executive director and former Anglo American Platinum (Amplats) CEO Ralph Havenstein as independent nonexecutive director, with effect from June 27.

Kesler, a qualified lawyer, is a founding member of Atlatsa Holdings and was instrumental in effecting the reverse takeover of Atlatsa – previously Anooraq Resources – in 2004.

Between 2005 and 2014, he served as Atlatsa’s CCO, primarily responsible for its corporate and business development, strategy, corporate finance and corporate communications.

Havenstein boasts a wealth of experience in the mining and resources sectors, having served as nonexecutive director on the board of several blue-chip companies, including Northam Platinum, Simmer and Jack Mines, Hernic Ferrochrome and Omnia Holdings.

He also gained “invaluable” experience in the mining sector while serving as CEO of Amplats between 2003 and 2007 and CEO of Norilsk Nickel International in 2008 and 2009.
