Following a five-month handover period, Newmont has completed its COO transition and starting next week, Rob Atkinson will transition all his remaining responsibilities to new COO, Natascha Viljoen.

Atkinson will officially step down from the Newmont executive leadership team, effective May 2.

Atkinson joined Newmont in June 2019, as executive VP and COO, succeeding Tom Palmer, who was subsequently appointed president and CEO of Newmont.

“I want to personally thank Rob for his leadership and the many contributions to Newmont’s operational excellence during his leadership tenure and I wish him the very best for the future,” said Palmer.
