PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed Argonaut Resources has filed an appeal against the South Australian Supreme Court decision to set aside an Aboriginal Heritage Act authorisation granted for exploration work at its Murdie project.

The authorisation was granted to Argonaut subsidiary Kelaray at the end of December 2020 by then Premier Steven Marshall.

In March 2021, the Barngarla Determination Aboriginal Corporation filed an application with the South Australian Supreme Court to review the authorisation.

The Supreme Court in August set aside the authorisation.

Argonaut said on Tuesday that council for Kelaray considered the judgment and had advised the company that there were grounds for appeal.

The Murdie project comprises two exploration licences covering 1 015 km2, located 10 km from OZ Minerals’ Carrapateena deposit, and 45 km from BHP’s Oak Dam West discovery.
