PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Minerals explorer Apollo Minerals has increased its land-holding in South Australia, after being granted an additional exploration licence adjacent to its Titan base and precious metals project.

The grant of the additional ground, which is contiguous with the southern boundary of Titan, brought Apollo’s total exploration footprint in the Gawler craton to over 1 467 km2.

The company said on Thursday that it was conducting further research with the South Australian government’s Geological Survey to further understand the geological framework of the region.

Apollo said that the work has strengthened the case for the discovery of iron-ore/copper/gold mineralisation within the region.

It was anticipated that geological surveys would be completed in 2014, with a drilling programme expected to start once drill sites had been verified.
