Aphrodite upgrade to over 1Moz
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold developer Aphrodite Gold has increased its namesake project’s resource estimate by some 35%, to 1.4-million ounces.
The company said that the new resource estimate had been developed to align with the proposed mine plan for the Aphrodite gold project’s prefeasibility study (PFS), which was currently under way, and incorporated both openpit and bulk underground operations.
The revised resource has been estimated over a vertical depth of about 540 m and incorporated the Phi and Alpha lodes, as well as the Epsilon and Gamma lodes, adjacent to the two principal lodes.
Aphrodite said that to ensure that the openpit mine plan in the PFS included all identified resources, the resource estimate included high tonnage low-grade material from the supergene blanket overlaying and extending away from the lodes.
The PFS would determine whether the supergene resource was economic, and would be included in the reserve.
