PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold production from the Georgetown processing plant is ramping up, with ASX-listed Laneway Resources pouring its second gold from high-grade ore mined from the Agate Creek gold mine, in North Queensland.

Laneway earlier in September produced the first gold from the Georgetown processing plant.

The second gold pour resulted in a 10.76 kg gold dore bar, which has been sent to the Perth Mint for refining.

Since ore processing started at the end of August, a total of 2 478 t of Agate Creek ore has been processed and throughput and production rates are continuing to increase, with night shift operations scheduled to start shortly, Laneway said.

With the refurbishment of the Georgetown processing plant now completed in line with expected timeframes, Laneway is expecting to pour gold dore on a weekly basis. Processing rates will be dependent on feed grades and ongoing metallurgical performance including recovery.

Meanwhile, mining operations were progressing well with a total of 27 500 t at 8 g/t gold already mined from the current pit at Sherwood with the final drill and blast programme for this pit about to commence. Further pits to be mined after the current Sherwood pit were in the final stages of planning and approvals, Laneway said on Tuesday.
