Anglogold Ashanti appoints former COO to board

JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Mining major AngloGold Ashanti has announced the appointment of former COO David Hodgson as independent nonexecutive director, with effect from April 25.

Hodgson, who held the post of AngloGold Ashanti COO from November 2001 until his retirement in April 2005, previously occupied several senior and executive positions during his three-decade career with the Anglo American and De Beers group of companies.

He also held nonexecutive directorships at Moto Gold Mines, Uranium One, Goliath Gold Mining, Auryx Gold and Montero Mining and Exploration.

Hodgson holds a BSc in civil engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, in South Africa, a BSc (Hon) in mining from the Royal School of Mines, in the UK, and a BCom from the University of South Africa.
