PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed Australia Minerals and Mining Group (AMMG) has launched a definitive feasibility study (DFS) of its South West alumina project, in Western Australia.

“The DFS is the next stage of development for this project, as it will detail the design, construction, capital expenditure and operating expenditure costings necessary for pursuing financing options for a high purity alumina pilot/mini production plant,” said AMMG MD Ric Dawson.

He noted that the DFS was scheduled for completion in September, and added that the company would undertake a tendering process following the completion of the study, provided that financing could be secured.

Operations were expected to start by mid- to late 2014.

The company was also currently targeting potential investors and offtake partners.

The South West project currently has a Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant resource of some 297-million tonnes of aluminous clay at grades of up to 38% alumina. The project, further, has an exploration target of between 2.5-billion and 3.9-billion tons.
