PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed Australia Minerals and Mining Group (AMMG) has launched a bankable feasibility study (BFS) into its South West high-purity alumina project, in Western Australia.

The study would be based on the development of a 3 000 t/y high-purity alumina operation, with the targeted production capacity positioning AMMG as one of the top three producers in the world.

“The company’s previous work centered on the development of a 700 t/y pilot plant as a first step towards the development of a full-scale commercial production facility. Following an in-depth technical and commercial review, the company determined the significant value in proceeding directly to the development of a full-scale production facility with the necessary pilot plant testwork assigned to the laboratory,” said AMMG MD Iggy Tan.

He added that the company was driven by the substantial savings associated with the proposed 3 000 t/y production facility, which would save on capital cost, reduce shareholder dilution with additional capital raisings and would deliver an earlier-than-anticipated production date.

The BFS was scheduled for completion at the end of the third quarter next year.
