Precious metals exploration and development company Amani Gold has completed the first phase of diamond core drilling operations at its Kebigada gold deposit at the Giro gold project, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

While assay results are pending, drill core indicates broad visual intervals of rock type and sulphide mineralisation, which is similar to the adjacent drill holes, which intersected gold mineralisation, the company says.

Drilling is now targeted at the deeper high-grade gold mineralisation within the central core of the Kebigada deposit.

Amani had previously outlined a gold resource at Kebigada, within the Giro project, of 45.62-million tonnes at 1.46 g/t of gold for 2.1-million ounces of gold at a cut-off grade of 0.9 g/t of gold.

The Kebigada deposit is one of two exploration permits at the Giro gold project that covers 497 km2 and lies within the Kilo-Moto Belt of the DRC.
