Aim- and TSX-V-listed African mining royalty generator Altus Strategies has discovered high-grade copper and silver from reconnaissance exploration at its recently granted Azrar, Izougza and Tata projects, in Morocco.

The projects are located in established current and historic copper and silver mining districts, totalling 252 km2, in the western Anti-Atlas of Morocco and are held by Altus’ 100%-owned subsidiary Aterian Resources.

Prospecting at the Izougza project returned up to 8.37% of copper in breccia, while the Azrar project returned up to 3.41% of copper and 56 g/t of silver in breccia.

Prospecting at the Tata project returned up to 0.24% of copper in sediments.

CE Steven Poulton says these are “excellent results” from first pass prospecting of Altus’ recently granted Azrar, Izougza and Tata projects.

At the sites, Altus found evidence of occurrences of historic hard-rock artisanal mining, which have been mapped.

“There is potential for stratiform sediment-hosted and contact breccia copper/silver mineralisation at the sites,” he says.

Meanwhile, the company reports that exploration is currently under way on the recently granted Jafra, Tiddas and Amsa projects, thereby bringing the total to ten “highly prospective” projects held by Altus, in Morocco.

Together, these ten projects total an area of 675 km2.

Going forward, Poulton says Altus’ field teams have generated numerous targets for follow-up exploration.
