PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed Alkane Resources has reported a 13.5% increase in the gold resource at its Tomingley project, in New South Wales. The increase resulted from a resource estimate for the Caloma Two deposit, which added about 1.7-million tonnes, grading 2 g/t gold, for 109 300 oz to the project inventory.

The Tomingley project is now estimated to host some 14.29-million tonnes, grading 2 g/t gold for 921 000 oz of contained gold.

Tomingley is based on three gold deposits and is located some 14 km from the Peak Hill gold mine, and 50 km south-west of the Dubbo zirconia project.

The project received state development approval in July 2012 and a mining lease was granted in February 2013. Production was due to start in February 2014.
