TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – TSX- and NYSE-listed Alderon Iron Ore on Wednesday announced that its flagship Kami iron-ore project, in the Labrador Trough, had received Ministerial approval for three critical permits needed to start construction.

Its affiliate, The Kami Mine Limited Partnership, received from the Newfoundland and Labrador Minister of Environment and Conservation approval for its general environmental protection plan, the valued ecosystem component environmental protection plan and an environmental effects monitoring plan.

Alderon said that the plans met three conditions required under the provincial environmental assessment, according with the Environmental Protection Act.

"We continue to work on several fronts to get ready for the start of construction planned for later this year. The province continues to strongly support our Kami project and we look forward to a continued positive working relationship,” Alderon president and CEO Tayfun Eldem said.
