Aeris coy on Cobar talks
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Junior Aeris Resources has refused to be drawn into discussions on whether it is vying for diversified miner Glencore’s Cobar copper mine, in New South Wales.
Reports emerged this week that Aeris was competing with fellow-listed 29Metals to acquire the Glencore assets, with Aeris acknowledging that Glencore was seeking proposals for the assets.
“Aeris has a well-defined strategy focused on creating shareholder value through organic growth and merger and acquisitions and evaluates potential strategic opportunities from time-to-time.
“The evaluation of such opportunities is not indicative of whether a particular transaction may or may not occur. Nor does it constitute material information. As a result Aeris will not respond further to such speculation,” the company said in response to the article in The Australian.
Glencore’s CSA mine is one of Australia’s highest grade copper mines, having produced some 46 200 t of copper in 2020 and employing 500 staff and contractors.
