The fire apparatus division of safety equipment supplier Advanced Fire Suppression Technologies in Alberton is equipped to convert a Ford Ranger 3.2 TDCi Supercab 4x4 or any similar chassis cab into an ADVANCED Rapid Response unit.

These units have a specific task to perform in the industrial environment and have been meticulously designed to ensure that, as a first response to an incident, they can perform a critical task in the knockdown and containment phase of an initial conflagration.

The Rapid Response units are designed on the Ford Ranger 3.2 TDCi Supercab 4x4, owing to its attractive warranty, maintenance and service plan, as well as the aftermarket conversion kits available to bring the required aesthetics to the unit but can be adapted to a client’s choice of chassis cab.

The high flow requirement has been met with the inclusion of two TFT Crossfire monitors fitted with a TFT Master Foam self-inducing nozzle.  At full flow, these monitors have a performance of 9 500 l per min at 8 bar. The Master Foam nozzle is supplied with 1% and 3% induction orifices and is quick and easy to change out in the field.  The monitors are fitted with Valve Under Monitor, which allows for a 65 mm discharge to be plumbed from the monitor supply line.

The plumbing is manufactured from polished stainless steel.

The polished stainless steel frame is designed to allow for the complete removal of the rear unit from the load body.

The 300 litre foam tank is manufactured from heavy-duty polypropylene and is treated with a non-slip paint to accommodate the heavy wear and tear that it is exposed to.  The tank is fitted with an electronic contents level gauge.

Two all-aluminium hose trays are provided, one either side. The left-side hose tray accommodates three 100 mm by  30 m supply lines and the right hose tray has six  65 mm by 30 m attack lines.

Additional items that form part of the vehicle specification are:

  • A 4500 kg electric front mount winch;
  • An all stainless steel nudge bar;
  • A WiFi camera to capture the incident;
  • Rear LED work lights;
  • A Emeduvac emergency lighting and siren system with LED flashes;
  • Step lights all round;
  • Reflective signage;
  • Alcohol Resistant Aqueous Film-Forming Foam.
