Fluor Corporation is supporting 10 community improvement projects around the globe. Each project receives $10,000 from Fluor’s Global Community Project Fund. Employees from Fluor offices and project sites in more than 19 countries, participated in the Global Community Project Fund nominating a total of 94 community improvement projects for local charitable organizations.

According to Thabang Tawarima, manager, Fluor Corporate Affairs & Business Development,  30 community projects were selected as finalists and a project nominated by a local Fluor employee, Derek Wolmarans, has made the short-list and now stands a chance to receive a $10,000 grant.

“A grant from Fluor’s Global Community Project Fund, will help create a fully equipped media centre for Vastfontein Community Transformation, situated near Pretoria, to enhance reading and learning abilities of the students at the school,” said Tawarima. An online public vote will help determine the 10 winners that will each receive $10,000 from the fund, as well as Fluor employee volunteers to help complete the projects.

“Fluor will announce the Global Community Project Fund winners towards the end of June. This initiative is a unique way for employees to take an active role investing in their local communities,” concluded Tawarima.
