Rwanda

Rwanda is a landlocked country in East Africa, bordered by Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The capital is Kigali. With a population of about 13-million, Rwanda is one of the most densely populated countries on the continent. The economy is driven by agriculture, tourism, mining and services, with coffee and tea as major exports. The country also produces tin, tantalum and tungsten concentrates. Rwanda's currency is the Rwandan franc. The government is a presidential republic, and the country is a member of the East African Community and the African Union. Since the 1994 genocide, Rwanda has pursued economic modernisation and positioned itself as a regional hub for technology and business services. The government has invested in infrastructure, education and healthcare, and the country has recorded sustained GDP growth over the past two decades. Rwanda's strategic location and relative political stability have made it a focal point for regional diplomacy and peacekeeping efforts. The nation's development trajectory and involvement in cross-border security issues, particularly in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, ensure its prominence in African business and political coverage.
