Newmont

Newmont is a global gold mining company and one of the world's largest producers of the precious metal, headquartered in Denver, Colorado, in the US. The company operates mines across North America, South America, Australia and Africa, with a portfolio that includes both gold and copper assets. Newmont is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and is a component of the S&P 500 index. The company's operations span the full mining lifecycle, from exploration and development through to production and reclamation. In Africa, Newmont has significant operations in Ghana, where it operates the Ahafo and Akyem mines, and has interests in other projects across the continent. The company reported annual gold production of approximately six-million ounces and revenue exceeding $12-billion in recent years. Newmont employs tens of thousands of people globally, including contractors and joint-venture partners. The company has pursued a strategy of portfolio optimisation, divesting non-core assets and focusing on Tier 1 assets in stable jurisdictions. Newmont was founded in 1921 and has grown through organic development and major acquisitions, including the merger with Goldcorp in 2019 and the acquisition of Newcrest Mining in 2023, which significantly expanded its global footprint.
