Narendra Modi

Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister of India, having held the office since May 2014. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and leads the National Democratic Alliance coalition government. Before becoming Prime Minister, Modi served as Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014, where he focused on economic development and infrastructure expansion. His tenure as Prime Minister has been marked by initiatives such as Make in India, Digital India and the Goods and Services Tax reform, aimed at modernising the economy and attracting foreign investment. Modi has pursued closer economic and strategic ties with African nations, positioning India as a development partner and investor across the continent. He has championed renewable energy targets, financial inclusion through digital banking and infrastructure development as pillars of his domestic agenda. His government has also emphasised self-reliance under the Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign and expanded India's diplomatic footprint in multilateral forums. Modi's leadership style combines economic liberalisation with nationalist rhetoric, and he remains a prominent figure in global geopolitics. He was born in 1950 in Gujarat and rose through the ranks of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh before entering electoral politics.
