Morocco

Morocco is a North African country located on the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea, with Rabat as its capital. The country has a population of about 37-million and operates as a constitutional monarchy under King Mohammed VI. Morocco's economy is diversified across agriculture, phosphates and mining, manufacturing, tourism and services, with the dirham as its currency. The kingdom is the world's largest exporter of phosphate rock and derivatives, which underpin its fertiliser industry and contribute significantly to export earnings. Mining extends to other minerals including copper, silver, lead, zinc, iron ore, cobalt and manganese, attracting international investment in exploration and development. Morocco has pursued economic liberalisation and free-trade agreements with the European Union, the United States and several African nations, positioning itself as a gateway between Europe and Africa. The country is a member of the African Union, the Arab League and the Union for the Mediterranean. Infrastructure development has accelerated in recent decades, including the expansion of ports such as Tanger-Med, renewable energy projects and industrial zones. Morocco's strategic location, relative political stability and resource endowment make it a recurring focus in coverage of African mining, energy transition minerals and cross-continental trade.
