Moma Mine

Moma Mine is a titanium minerals mine located in the Nampula province of northern Mozambique. The mine is operated by Kenmare Resources, an Irish mining company listed on the London Stock Exchange and Euronext Dublin. Moma produces ilmenite, rutile and zircon from heavy mineral sands deposits along the coast of the Indian Ocean. The operation comprises open-pit mining using dredges and wet concentrator plants to extract the heavy minerals from the sand. Moma is one of the world's largest producers of titanium feedstock minerals, with production capacity exceeding one-million tonnes of ilmenite a year. The mine's output is exported through a dedicated mineral separation plant and port facility at the site. Kenmare Resources has invested more than $1-billion in the development and expansion of Moma since production began in 2007. The mine is a significant contributor to Mozambique's export earnings and employs several thousand people directly and indirectly. Moma has undergone several expansion phases to increase production capacity and extend its operational life, which is expected to continue for several decades based on current reserves.
