Marula

Marula is a platinum-group metals mine located in the Limpopo province of South Africa. The operation is situated on the eastern limb of the Bushveld Complex, one of the world's most significant platinum-bearing geological formations. Marula is owned and operated by Implats (Impala Platinum Holdings), one of South Africa's major platinum producers. The mine produces platinum, palladium, rhodium and other platinum-group metals through conventional underground mining methods. Marula's output contributes to global supply chains for catalytic converters, hydrogen fuel cells, electric vehicles and other industrial applications that rely on platinum-group metals. The operation includes mining, concentrating and smelting facilities that process ore from the UG2 and Merensky reef horizons. Marula represents an important asset in Implats' portfolio of South African operations, alongside facilities such as Impala Rustenburg and Two Rivers. The mine has been in production since the early 2000s and continues to play a role in South Africa's position as a leading global supplier of platinum-group metals.
