John Teeling

John Teeling is an Irish businessman and geologist known for his extensive involvement in the natural resources sector, particularly in mining exploration and development across Africa and other emerging markets. He has founded and chaired numerous mining companies over several decades, establishing a reputation as a serial entrepreneur in the junior mining space. Teeling's career has focused on identifying and developing mineral prospects, with particular emphasis on gold, diamonds, base metals and other commodities. He holds a doctorate in management science and has combined academic rigour with practical exploration experience throughout his career. Teeling has been involved in exploration projects across multiple African countries, including Botswana, where his companies have pursued diamond, copper and other mineral opportunities. His business model typically involves establishing early-stage exploration vehicles, advancing projects through initial drilling and feasibility work, and seeking partnerships or exits once value has been demonstrated. He is known for his ability to raise capital for speculative ventures and for his willingness to operate in frontier markets. Teeling's companies have often been listed on the Alternative Investment Market (Aim) in London and the Irish Stock Exchange, providing retail and institutional investors with exposure to African mineral exploration. His long career in the sector has made him a recognisable figure in the junior mining community, particularly in relation to African resource development.
