Fresnillo

Fresnillo is a Mexican precious metals mining company and the world's largest primary silver producer. The company is headquartered in Mexico City and operates a portfolio of mines primarily in Mexico, with its principal operations concentrated in the states of Zacatecas, Sonora, Chihuahua and Durango. Fresnillo is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index, with Industrias Peñoles holding a controlling stake in the company. The company's core business focuses on the exploration, development and mining of silver and gold deposits, with silver accounting for the majority of its revenue. Key operating assets include the Fresnillo mine, one of the world's richest silver mines, the Saucito mine, the Ciénega mine, the Herradura gold mine and the Noche Buena gold mine. Fresnillo also maintains an active exploration programme across Mexico to replenish and expand its mineral reserves. The company employs several thousand people and is one of Mexico's most significant mining operators. Fresnillo was established as a separate entity in 2008 when it was spun off from Peñoles and listed on the London Stock Exchange, though its mining heritage in the Fresnillo district dates back centuries to the colonial era.
