Colorado

Colorado is a state in the western United States, with its capital in Denver. The state has a population of about six-million people and an economy anchored by energy, mining, technology, aerospace, agriculture and tourism. Colorado has historically been a significant producer of minerals including gold, silver, molybdenum, coal and uranium, with mining playing a foundational role in the state's development since the nineteenth-century gold rush. The state's Front Range urban corridor, centred on Denver, Colorado Springs and Boulder, hosts a concentration of technology companies, federal research facilities and defence contractors. Colorado's natural resources include substantial reserves of oil, natural gas and coal, as well as critical minerals such as rare earths, tungsten and vanadium found in various geological formations across the state. The state is home to major federal installations including the US Air Force Academy, NORAD and numerous military bases, contributing to a strong defence and aerospace sector. Colorado's economy benefits from a highly educated workforce and a business-friendly environment that has attracted companies in renewable energy, biotechnology and advanced manufacturing. The state's mineral wealth and strategic location have made it a focus for efforts to develop domestic supply chains for critical minerals essential to national security and the energy transition. Colorado's governance structure includes an elected governor and a bicameral legislature, with the state playing an active role in energy and environmental policy debates at the national level.
