Talga finds site for German plant
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed junior Talga Resources has identified a leased site in central Germany for its proposed graphite-to-graphene demonstration plant.
Earlier this year, Talga said it would spend about A$1-million to construct the demonstration plant in Germany, capable of producing between 100 t/y and 200 t/y of graphene, with feedstock sourced from Talga’s projects in Sweden.
The plant would be funded from the proceeds of a A$5.5-million capital raising concluded earlier this year.
“We are very fortunate to have secured what is almost a new premises in a well located chemical hub close to our research partners and industry,” said Talga MD Mark Thompson.
“The level of government interaction and support to attract Talga to the region has been compelling. Material funding support is on offer, industrial neighbours at the site include an adjacent polymer factory, our site is close to services for our workforce and it is very central to all our work programmes.”
The company said on Monday that with the facilities now chosen, Talga could make preparations to start the next stage of upscaling work on graphite ore mined at the flagship Vittangi project, in Sweden, by as early as July.
