Name of the Mine
Mungari mine.

Location
The project is 20 km west of Kalgoorlie, in Western Australia.

Mine Owner/s
Evolution Mining.

Brief Description
The Mungari mine comprises the White Foil and Cutters Ridge openpits, and the Frog’s Leg underground mine.

The addition of the Kundana and East Kundana Joint Venture underground operations has elevated Mungari to Evolution’s fourth cornerstone asset.

Brief History
Evolution Mining acquired the Mungari mine in August 2015. This excluded the Kundana assets, which were acquired in August 2021.

Primary Metals/Minerals
Gold.

Secondary Metals/Minerals
None stated.

Geology/Mineralisation
The White Foil, Cutters Ridge and Frog’s Leg deposits are situated within the Norseman-Wiluna greenstone belt of the Yilgarn craton, in Western Australia.

White Foil is situated 3 km to the west of the Zuleika Shear, a regional-scale shear zone, and is hosted within a quartz-rich gabbro unit, which is part of the Powder Sill intrusive complex. The mineralised zone is 70 m wide, 400 m long and open at depth.

The Frog’s Leg deposit is located on the sheared contact between the porphyritic “cat rock,” locally known as the Victorious basalt, and volcaniclastic rocks of Black Flag beds.

The ore lodes are between 2 m and 20 m thick and occur as subparallel lodes.

The regional tenement package has positions on three main prospective structures: Zuleika shear – notable deposits include Frog’s Leg and Bullant, as well as the Kundana group of Centenary, Strezlecki, Raleigh, Barkers, Hornet and Millenium.

Kunanalling shear – notable deposits include Castle Hill and Catherwood

Carbine structure – hosting satellite gold deposits to Mungari mill.

Reserves
Total mineral reserves as at December 2020 were estimated at 9.98-million tonnes grading 1.41 g/t gold.

Resources
Total mineral resources as at December 2020 were estimated at 49.07-million tonnes grading 1.39 g/t gold.

Mining Method
White Foil and Cutters Ridge – conventional openpit (drill, blast, load and haul).
Frog’s Leg – underground, using open stoping, with pastefill.
Kundana – underground, using narrow-vein longhole open stoping.
East Kundana – underground, using open stoping with pastefill.

Major Infrastructure/Equipment
White Foil and Cutters Ridge includes drilling, loading and hauling equipment, dozers and explosives.Frog’s Leg, Kundana and East Kundana include loading, trucking, drilling and ancillary equipment, as well as underground communications and explosives.

The Mungari Operations also includes a processing plant with a two-million-tonne-a-year throughput. The recovery method is gravity and carbon-in-pulp.

Prospects
The first ore processing campaign for the Mungari Operations’ East Kundana deposit was successfully completed in the quarter ended December 31, 2021.

Mungari is now advancing opportunities to improve mill throughput while maintaining recovery, and reducing ore haulage distances from Kundana and East Kundana to the Mungari mill.

The Kundana assets are expected to provide a high-grade ore source and support a potential mill expansion to 4.2-million tonnes a year, with the objective of achieving an increase in production to 200 000 oz/y and extend the Mungari mine’s life to more than 13 years – mill expansion studies are in progress.
