PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Rare earths miner Lynas has announced that Kathleen Conlon will retire from the board as chairperson and independent nonexecutive director at the conclusion of the company’s annual general meeting on November 29.

Independent nonexecutive director John Humphrey has been elected to succeed Conlon as chairperson.

Humphrey has been a director of Lynas since May 2017 and is currently chair of the nomination, remuneration and community committee, as well as a member of the audit, risk and environmental, social and governance committee.

“Conlon’s expertise and guidance have been important through each phase of the company’s development from startup to establishment and now into our next growth phase. As chairperson, she has provided me with expert counsel as we have faced both challenges and opportunities and I will miss her presence on our board both professionally and personally,” said CEO and MD Amanda Lacaze on Tuesday.

Conlon told shareholders that she would be working with Humphrey over the coming weeks to transition the board leadership.

“With his experience both as a chairperson and as a long-standing member of the Lynas board, Humphrey is ideally placed to lead the board during the next phase of the company’s growth and development. I wish the board and the Lynas team all the best for the future,” Conlon said.
