The implementation of Stage 6 load-shedding in late June and early July has moved many citizens from grudging resignation to intensifying anger. Visible action is needed and needed fast to start closing the supply gap that has persisted for years and is growing as Eskom’s neglected coal fleet effectively decommissions itself and policy and regulatory obstacles remain in the way of alternative generation investments.
