Mining company Alamos Gold on Tuesday reported that a worker had died at its Young-Davidson mine, in Ontario, in an underground accident.

“We are shocked and deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague. Nothing is more important than the safety of our employees. On behalf of the entire team at Alamos, we extend our deepest sympathies to his family, friends and loved ones,” said president and CEO John A. McCluskey.

Alamos stated that it was working with the local authorities and that it would conduct an internal investigation into the accident.
